In'greedeeint (Ingredient)

C, Q and X are the only letters to change

The letter ( q ) is now used for the sound of ( g ) as used in some other languages

eg: The Afrikaans use of the Letter 'G'
(The letter ( u ) is not used after the ( q ) as with the old spelling)

"X" Has no sound of its own and is used as a wild card or an unknown quantity as in mathematics

In a situation where there are two or three letter together that are the same, but need defining, use an inverted coma ( ' )

eg: Throughout (Ttroo'owt)
eg: Eighth (aet'th)

An underdash ( _ ) before a word is used to indicate that the word is not spelled Phonetically

eg: Mie naem iz _Mary and Ie am . . . . . . etc.

Double letters are only used as shown in the "Combined letters" section

Don't use an inverted coma ( ' ) in joined words eg: "don't" becomes "doent"

Words with different meanings are spelled the same. If there is a need to specify the particular meaning then the word can be spelled in the old spelling with an underdash ( _ ) in front

There are no silent letters

eg: Know Could Sign

Only one letter or combination of letters is used for any given sound
